Newsletter April - Time for outdoor care
Dear friends of Pataholm Såpa,
Spring has finally reached Småland. It took its time this year.
I started cleaning the outdoor furniture last week. That’s usually how I know spring has arrived.

In Sweden, people are stepping away from oiling the furnitures and the terrace and more and more people are turning to Såpa. Soaping the wood keeps the wood breathing, removes dirt without leaving a sticky layer, and allows the material to age naturally. Unlike oil, which can attract dust and dirt, Såpa nourishes and maintains without creating build-up. If you are not familiar with the Såpa cleaning of wood, I am happy to welcome you to a new world of fulfillment. Don't get me wrong, I have never been the type of person that enjoys cleaning, but this is different.
I have collected lots of information on how to do it on the website. But please write to me if anything is unclear, or if you have specific questions. I am happy to help!
Since we started making our Såpa, we’ve received many requests for larger bottles (Swedes tend to use a lot of såpa since many of us use it for pretty much everything). For the bigger projects, like the terrace, we now offer our unscented Såpa in a 2.5 L size. Since our Såpa is made from the genius Linseedoil, we do not need to make a different såpa to use outdoors. Thanks to our recipe with Linseed oil you can use the same concentrated formula you already know: perfect for washing wool, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, caring for floors, and more. One bottle goes a long way, making it practical, versatile, and economical. So if you have some left over, you can simply continue using the same bottle for everyday cleaning around the house. Simple, smart, and sustainable. Need tips on cleaning the kitchen with Såpa? We’ve collected them here.
Things happening in the Pataholm:
Last autumn, we hosted a hands-on event at Klapphuset in Kalmar. It was wonderful to see friends try soaping carpets for the first time, learn the techniques, and share a coffee while doing it. This May, we’re bringing the same experience to Pataholm itself. Bring your carpet, brush, bucket, and coffee cup - we’ll provide Såpa and coffee. It’s a simple, hands-on way to care for your home while enjoying a small community moment. Read about our last event and keep an eye for the exact date.
If you’re planning a road trip through southern Sweden, we’ve curated a list of stores and cafés that carry Pataholm Såpa - perfect for exploring small towns and picking up your favorite soap along the way. If there’s a place you’d love to see us, let us know, or better yet, suggest Pataholm Såpa to your favorite local shop. See the full list here.
If you are on instagram, you might find it interesting to join the two nerdy channels that I started on the Såpa topic. One is in German and one is in English. I like that it is possible to ask direct questions in these chats.
Finally, a small incentive for new friends: sign up for our newsletter and enjoy 10% off your next order.
Since Såpa is still new to many markets, any help with spreading the word is truly appreciated. Word of mouth means everything to a small brand like us. You find us on instagram on @pataholm_soap
This is the second newsletter from Pataholm. At a time when it’s hard to reach anyone without feeding the algorithm, I’m glad to have this space to return to. I hope these letters feel like a pause rather than noise - something you actually enjoy opening. And if they don’t, you’re always free to step away.
Warm regards,
Malin
